Wisdom teeth

Wisdom teeth may cause problems for people of all ages, but mostly they are problematic when they erupt into the mouth between the ages of 19 and 23.

Your dentist will advise you if your wisdom teeth are impacting and need to be removed. Leaving impacted wisdom teeth can cause severe problems for other teeth as can be seen in these X-rays. This patient waited too long to have their wisdom teeth removed and the result was that this wisdom tooth caused substantial decay and infection of the nerve of the molar in front of it. In the end, the wisdom tooth needed to be removed, and the molar needed to have root canal treatment and a crown.
