Nice Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns produce a natural, beautiful appearance coupled with durability and strength. They are now the standard of care for almost any incisor or canine tooth which is very broken down and can no longer be restored with just a big composite filling.

The example below shows the tooth of a young man, which suffered a knock when he was in his teens. The tooth became dark and had been treated several times over the years with composite. He came to Brisbane Prosthodontics seeking a more aesthetic, lasting solution.

Before Treatment

The patient's smile was affected by the presence of this dark incisor and the old, stained composite build-up on it

A dark tooth root

When the nerve (pulp) of a tooth has died, it will sometimes become dark. A darker root can be very hard to mask with an all-ceramic crown and other procedures may be indicated to help improve the colour

After Treatment

In this case, the tooth was internally whitened before a Zirconia Crown was then placed. The new crown masked the darker root yet still had enough translucency to look like a natural tooth
