Our Team

Dentistry has become very high-tech with many procedures and options available to people seeking to improve their dental health or the appearance of their teeth. General Dentists can provide many services for their patients, but some dental treatments can only be properly provided by trained Specialist Dentists.

Just as in Medicine where a “Cosmetic Surgeon” is a generalist that does some cosmetic procedures, and a Plastic Surgeon is a thoroughly trained Specialist and College member, a Prosthodontist is a Specialist in Reconstructive and Cosmetic procedures with training beyond that of a General Dentist.

Our clinicians are experts in their respective fields, and remain up to date through regular attendance at continuing education programs in Australia and overseas. In some instances, Dr Mandikos is the person that interstate and overseas organisations invite to be the teacher for their courses. Our Dentists are also involved with training for the Australian Dental Association.

Amber attended Ironside and Brigidine College before qualifying for the University of Queensland in 1998.  In her undergraduate years she was the recipient of several Australian Dental Research Foundation summer scholarships and published a number of research papers.  For these achievements she was awarded the Pierre Fauchard award in her final year.

Having discovered a love of Prosthodontics in her undergraduate years she applied for a residency in Prosthodontics straight after graduation and began the following year at the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio in 2003-2006.   Once again she was recognised for her research projects in bone grafting and implants and was the recipient of several awards including a Masters of Science in 2007.

Upon returning to Australia she joined academic life.  For the past 13 years she has taught dentures and crowns to a generation of dentists and was instrumental in rewriting the undergraduate prosthodontic curriculum at UQ which currently stands.  Her teaching commitment was recognised when she was appointed Discipline Lead of Prosthodontics at UQ and received a tenured position in 2022.  At the same time, Amber stayed on the cutting edge of newer technologies and materials while working part time at a Periodontal practice where she restored hundreds of implants and treated full arch implant cases and all-on-4 cases in the past 12 years.

In her spare time she enjoys baking, going to the gym and writing.
